The Invites are coming, the Invites are coming!
So make sure I have your address! I’ll be emailing, calling, texting and sending smoke signals to everyone and we are mailing out invites this week, so keep your eyes peeled! The RSVP date is May 15th and we need a headcount by the end of May!
Going Gaga

It has been officially decreed that the Bachlorette Party will be Gaga- and we’re doing it big. I hereby dub the experience “Monsters in Manhattan”- get ready to dress to impress and party like a lady would- if that lady were Lady Gaga. Exact date TBA!
My Bridesmaids said Yes to this Dress
THANK YOU to all my ladies for deciding on a gorgeous dress in a beautiful color and for getting all the measurements in! I love you guys!

Booked! Anthony’s Pier 9
We gathered some of our wedding party and headed to an expo at Anthony’s Pier 9 – it turned out to be a HUGE event and quite delicious. After we toured the Regency Room with an outside ceremony area, cocktail hour bar spot and dinner room, we headed to the food tastings. Is a chocolate fountain too cheesy- and will it inevitably result in a ruined wedding dress?

They had some cute setups for the tables and some simple ways to dress up chairs- we’re all very creative, so I’m sure we can think of something awesome on the cheap.

Inside the Dinner Hall
Everyone thought the place was nice and the food was great, so we met up with a representative and made the big decision- we booked it! We came home with two copies of a contract which I’ll be scanning and sending to any fam and friends who might want to take a look at it. We’re on our way!

Dresses!
Mike, Kiel and I met up with Leigh and Jenna in New Paltz to talk bridesmaids dresses…well, Mike and Kiel kind of stood around looking at us ladies like we were insane most of the time…but we still came to a lot of good conclusions. We had a working lunch at a great little middle eastern style cafe- New Paltz has a ton to offer in veggie friendly, healthy, eclectic eateries.

The Girls in NP
Leigh had scouted some nice dresses from Alfred Angelo, and we browsed through his catalogs and narrowed down some specifics that I’m looking for, like length (Short), style (flowie bottom), color (a gradient of blues) and we requested fabric samples.

A Sample Dress in the Dark Blue Color
Leigh is looking into the price, and I’ll also be looking at David’s Bridal when I have my dress fitting for similar styles and colors there, as well as taking note of the prices. On that note, my dress fitting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb 2nd, 11am … and later that day I’m off to start my new job! What a day! Ladies in my bridal party, let me know if you want to meet me over there because I’d love to have your opinion- plus I’ve lost about 10lbs since the first fitting, so I hope they are ready to make some alterations!
I love you all and will talk to you soon!

Scouting Closer Locations: Anthony’s Pier 9

Featured in The Knot ‘s best Hudson Valley wedding locations, we checked out Anthony’s Pier 9 yesterday. It took us about 45 minutes to an hour by driving. We were impressed with their rooms, particularly the Regency Room which would accommodate us perfectly and had incredibly cool lighting.

Their packages include the ceremony, which would be held outside (weather permitting) with a nice mountain side view.

We’re going back to a bridal show there, where we can taste samples of their food and cake.
The next place we’re checking out is Bear Mountain…and if you have any ideas for locations, please let me know!
Central Park: The lost dream?

Central Park! You were affordable for a ceremony, beautiful, and the perfect location to remind us what we love about New York.
But finding a reception area in Manhattan/The Boroughs for the right price has proven to be nearly impossible, and I rue making people drive all over the place ( “Remember Mike and Delia’s wedding?” “Yeah, we sat in traffic for 45 minutes! It was awesome!”)
(polls)
So I’m afraid our plans of Central Park seem more unreasonable every time we seriously consider them!
Yes, we’re really doing it!

After a long time of talk and conjecture, people are starting to sound rather skeptical when they ask me how my wedding plans are going. I’ve set up this blog because I realize that I’m infamously hard to get in touch with- I love you guys, my friends and family, and I want to keep everyone informed…you may have mixed feelings about blogs, and I understand the grumblings; but this is just a communication tool, one that’s easy to fill with lots of mixed media information, and will not be a replacement for actual conversations and “real” contact. I love you all and I hope you will like the ideas and plans you find here!
